Company History:
Raisin' Grain began as a hobby. Billy has always enjoyed tinkering with woodworking projects. He became well known around the military community for his woodworking skills. It wasn't long before the military commands on the base he was stationed began asking him to make 'going away' plaques, centerpieces for the tables at the Navy Ball, and other military related woodworking items.
Once he started making items for the command, others on base started asking him to make shadow boxes and flag display cases to display their personal achievements and military memorabilia. From there, he started getting requests for Retirement Chests and other large objects. There was a big demand for his custom woodworking products and the wheels began to turn in the couple's heads. They decided they could actually start a custom woodworking business, instead of just making a few items as a hobby.
Then the question arose. How do they get from hobbyists to business owners? Since Billy already knew how to produce the products, Brandi decided to learn the administrative side of the company. Their dream was for Billy to do the construction work, while Brandi ran the office. He'd be the 'brawn' and she'd be the 'brains' behind the operation.
Their combined efforts brought them to the successful launch of their little business. Although the company was still small and operating out of their family garage, their dreams were big. Within the next two years, they planned to have a large, fully functional workshop, an office space within the workshop, and a showroom to display their products.
Billy’s retirement from the US Navy relocated the couple to the sleepy little town of Mountain View, MO, where they operate the business from a large workshop located on their property. There is also a designated office space in their home, for Brandi’s administrative work. However, the product showroom is still a work in progress.
