How does the customization process work, how long does it take, and how do I pay for my product?
To create a custom product of your own, you can simply contact us and we can work together to design your unique product. Once all of the details are worked out, Raisin’ Grain will design it and send you a computerized 3-D image of the final product. You can look it over for any changes that you would like to make. Once you approve of the final design, we will post it on our website and you can pay by credit card or PayPal.
Once we receive your order confirmation, we will begin bringing your dreams to life. This will take anywhere between a few days, a few weeks, or a few months. It depends on the size of the product and the amount of detail included in it. Most small plaques and signs only take a few days to a week. Larger products such as Sea Chests take a few months.

What is the difference in the wood types?
We can make your product out of any wood that you like. However, we prefer to use Oak, Mahogany, and Walnut for our plaques. Oak a light colored wood and is the least expensive of the three options. Mahogany is a medium colored wood with a bit of a red tint to it. Walnut is a rich, dark colored wood. An oak plaque with a "gunstock" colored stain also looks nice. Below are examples of each.

Why do you use plexiglass instead of real glass?
The word 'Plexiglas' is a 'brand name' of acrylic glass and is comparable to saying 'Tupperware', 'Zip-Lock', or 'Kleenex'. It's just a name brand for a common product. Plexiglas is simply a synthetic, acrylic, version of glass.
The belief that acrylic is inferior to glass is a myth. Acrylic looks just like glass. It is transparent, strong, shatter proof, and durable.
It is virtually unbreakable. Acrylic requires far more pressure to crack than a pane of glass of the same thickness, making it ideal for areas where children, pets, or vacuum cleaners may bump and break the glass of the product.
Acrylic is used in police shields because of its overall strength, it is unlikely to break or shatter, and its transparency makes it easy to see through.
Acrylic allows more light to pass through than glass, making it the clearest material available to view the memorabilia inside of your display case. Glass reflects more light than acrylic causing a lot of reflection and glare.
Although more light passes through acrylic than passes through regular glass, acrylic filters more UV rays than regular glass. This will help prevent fading of your ribbons, metals, uniforms, flags, and other memorabilia.
Acrylic is light weight. It only weighs about half as much as glass, making the finished product a more manageable weight.
In short, we use Acrylic/Plexiglas to ensure that your family heirloom will last for many generations to come.
