Tom, a retired disabled military veteran is battling tongue/throat cancer. He is a dear friend of ours and one of Billy's mentors, especially when it comes to fine woodworking. Here at Raisin' Grain, we have decided to create this beautiful piece and do a benefit raffle in order to help the family out with everything.
Here is a writeup that Tom's wife, Colleen, provided...
"Tom has had to have a feeding tube put in place with constant care at his side. He is also having to have a home nurse to provide IV hydration. The radiation is taking its toll on his body. He has been in and out of the hospital. He is home for now but the home care is mostly coming out of our pocket. If you know how the military insurance works, you know how hard financially this is draining us. There are a lot of things that are not being covered by insurance and we are getting some assistance for the radiation treatments and chemo but the expenses of traveling back and forth up to 3x a day and all of the home medical supplies and his extremely expensive formula is really taking it’s toll financially. If there is anything you can do to help get through these tough times it would be greatly appreciated. Much love and respect."
